Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurden Energieverwertungspfade erstellt, die versuchen alle eingangs erwähnten Situationen praxisgerecht abzubilden. Dabei wurde vor allem darauf Wert gelegt, dass bestehende Infrastruktur und Technologien mit einbezogen werden.

Als Grundlage für eine wirtschaftliche Betrachtung der Pfade wurden Strombörsepreise aus dem Jahr 2011 herangezogen. Dem Endprodukt (Grau-, Grünstrom, graues oder grünes Methan) wurde erneut ein Marktwert gegeben und fließt somit als Erlös in die Berechnungen ein.
